I've been scammed by this firm. AVOID this accounting firm at all costs. They purchased the old firm that was very reputable and I had used for years. Now the new owner, a unreliable Ben Johns has informed me, after completing my taxes two months ago and then taking 2 months to conduct some sort of "review" that they can not complete my taxes. After waiting 2 months for this review to be completed, I am sure I will now be facing penalties and fines from the IRS.
Stay far away from Ben Johns, CPA. His incompetence resulted in substantial IRS penalties for a failure to file my return. He refused to answer phone calls or emails. The group is closing this week, presumably as a result of his extremely poor service. I write this to warn people in the future if he tries to set up a new accounting firm in the future.
When my CPA sold his firm to Averett, I continued to use them for my taxes. At first, they did fine, but this year they have not done anything on my tax return after having the information for four months. This will cost me money in penalties and interest. As other reviewers have stated, these people are basically unethical, disorganized, and liars. My tax information was provided to them in March. Avoid this accounting firm! Since they purchased this company from Averett Financial in July 2023 I have not been able to get a straight answer about when my tax return will be filed. At this point I am going to have to pay penalties to the IRS for filing late even thought they have had all of my information since July.
Run don't walk away from this place. I really wish I had done more diligence and read these reviews before engaging AJT for tax filing and Proft First implementation. What a disaster. Zero communication and the partners are completely out to lunch. My tax return wasn't finalized until the first week of December and it wasn't even correct. I had them fix it and then had to paper file. What a joke.
